Under-mounting VS. Self-rimming sinks

The decision to purchase an under-mount sink versus a self-rimming sink is not always an easy one however the type of counter top you purchase can help decide. If you’re interested in an under-mount sink you will need a solid surface material for your counter top such as Corian, Granite, Marble or an engineered stone. You cant under-mount a sink on Formica.

If you plan on using a Formica or tile counter top, you will need to purchase a self-rimming sink. You can also use a self-rimming sink on a solid surface material if you don’t want to under-mount your sink.

Generally under-mount sinks are slightly more expensive but you get a nice clean look on the counter top.

Regardless of what you decide, upgrading your kitchen is going to look beautiful either way.
