Inspecting material when it arrives

With the rapid growth of the internet and online suppliers, home owners are finding they can purchase their remodeling products online and save a good deal of money. The savings in most cases can be pretty substantial. However because your are ordering the material yourself, you need to do the following to insure a successful and stress free transaction:

1) Confirm availability on the material you’re ordering, and allow some extra time for shipping delays and or damages.

2) Ask your supplier to confirm everything is included to complete your installation. Keep in mind some items are sold separately but are required to complete the job.

3) Inspect all the material once you receive it. Don’t assume because the outer box is in good condition there is nothing wrong with the product. If you notice any damage notify the shipper and or your supplier right away.

4) If you need to reorder the items due to damage or lost material, be prepared to pay for the item again and receive credit when your supplier receives credit. This is a standard practice.

5) Never schedule contractors until you have all the material on hand and in good condition.

If you follow the above steps, your transaction will go a lot smoother. Keep in mind if your contractor shows up and determines something is missing or damaged, not only will you delay the completion of your project, but you will also be charged by the contractor even if he cant do any work. Again, if you follow the above steps, your transaction will go a lot smoother. I cant guarantee you wont have a hic up here and there, but planning ahead if the best recipe for successful.
